This post is late in the making, and that’s an understatement. But the last month has been a whirlwind for us. Joe and I were busy cramming in rehearsals to prepare for our Clown Teeth shows in mid-June, which included two musicians (the wonderful Mike McMahon on drums and Jay Deuro on bass) who had just three days to learn our music before playing back-to-back nights with us in Buffalo. We also had two Sin Lung shows in Southern Pennsylvania, and then we’ve been busy preparing for and playing gigs with our own bands — Joe with Unring the Bell in D.C. and Matt with The Sneers in Buffalo.
Now that we have a breather, we wanted to back track and post this photo of Sin Lung — (which also includes our friend Ben on drums) — taken at the House of Jenk in Akron, PA, where we played June 8. This was such a really special night and we’re grateful. Musically, we had probably our best show. It was one of those nights where everything just clicked. The venue, a DIY space, was one of the coolest places we’ve played. Jenks, who owns and operates the space, was so rad and kind. We had a great turnout. And the bands we played with — Plague IX from Louisville, KY and Tornado Tordahdo from Akron — were not only amazing but awesome folks. We had a great time not only sharing the bill, but talking with them, as well.
We have been lucky. The week prior to playing the House of Jenk, Sin Lung played Pleasuretone in Reading, PA, another very cool DIY space. Like our experience in Akron, everything at Pleasuretone was more than we could have ever hoped for, from Joe the owner, who was exceedingly cool, kind and accommodating to the people we met and the bands — Hover and Christpipe — with whom we played.
We’re fortunate to be doing this and we value all the people we meet along the way.
